Welcome to my own little corner of the Internet. It took me a year to start working on this website after having registered the domain name magister52.se, but I
finally did it 7 years ago, in March 2019. Here you can learn about me and find links to great open source software and different coding resources.
I have been playing around with responsive design using CSS media selectors in order for the website to also work on phones. I decided to use PHP to separate the header and footer into seperate documents and will likely add more PHP-functionality later on. I am also slowly switching over from using JPG/PNG-images to using fully scalable SVG instead. There is likely going to be more JavaScript running at some point apart from the link to my YouTube-channel. I have also made sure that the website if 100% W3C-compliant.
The W3C is an international standards organization, founded by the inventor of the web. They develop the standards on which the world wide web is run.

ABOUT ME
My name is Tomas Jelf Werner and I am 45 years old.
In the online community I am probably best known by my old gaming alias and alter-ego theMagister52,
but these days I simply call myself Magister Werner. The term 'Magister' is Latin in origin and
simply means 'teacher' or 'master'.For the past 8 years I have been married to a wonderful woman and we are the proud parents of three (two boys and one girl). I believe I am something of a "Jack of all trades" in its most positive sense. I am a fast learner and always have a multitude of projects in the works, even though I rarely finish any of them before moving on to the next.
I currently work as a teacher and IT-administrator at a Swedish secondary school. I primarily teach English, but I also function as a special education teacher which means I get to work in a smaller setting with students who have a wide range of special needs and disabilities. I am dedicated to giving each individual student the tools and guidance needed to help them maximize success. In the past I have also taught Swedish and various Media/communication-subjects in High school.
As a special ed teacher I get to expand my horizon and teach a wide variety of subjects like mathematics, social science and technology. I also love helping students to learn basic programming and do so whenever I get the chance. My job is really satisfying because I get to combine my interests in both information technology and pedagogy, which really is a dream come true for me.
I started experimenting with coding various text-based games using Twine in 2017 and have had great fun showing students how to create their very own digital "choose your own adventure books". I've also showed students how to make simple graphical games with Scratch by coding with blocks. Since then, I have moved on to learning Godot on my spare time, which is a free and open source 2D and 3D game engine. I intend on using Godot for my next big game project which I will start working on at some point during 2022.
